This week, I received a task to validate TIFF images with a total size of 190G (shh... nobody really knew how many images there are in those two black drivers before the validation process). The library uploaded one copy to ContentDM, and saved two local copies in the library.
Encore only provide limited access to the backend configuration, but you can still come up creative ways to completely revamp how Encore feels and looks.
Remeber the last post I talked about a straightforward countdown redirect? Turns out sometimes that's not good enough, in cases you want to give user the right to manually click on something to fire the redirection off.
Libraries are using and updating many third party websites nowadays. We easily run into issues with switching vendors, and as a consequence, we need to decide how to make it obvious to users that an old service or an old website are getting switched over to new ones.
The story starts from a migration. The library I am working at is in the progress of migrating from Encore over to BiblioCommons. What fun it is! Some of you who have experience with library website/catalog migration might say.
